The VERY Awesome Homeschool Day (in Wyoming) - Part I

I didn't get a chance to share nearly enough about our trip to Colorado and Wyoming.   Immediately after we returned a little series took up most of my time, but now I get to share some of the best moments of our trip.   It was probably the BEST trip we've ever taken!

I knew we would be in Denver for a few days, and then had three more days to play with.  In researching the area I found that there was a lot of history around Cheyenne; history of the Transcontinental Railroad and The Oregon Trail.  The kids helped me every step of the way, and by the time we left for Colorado we had mapped and studied everything we wanted to see.

This isn't homeschool.  This is LIFE.

My Favorite Read Aloud Posts - Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 in the Ten Days of Reading Aloud!

Yesterday I wrote about how we choose and keep track of read alouds.  I offered a free printable and a giveaway, too.  If you missed the post, you might want to go back and check it out.

Today I'd like to share some of my favorite posts about reading aloud with you.   So much of the encouragement and inspiration to read aloud comes from what I read online.   Hopefully you will find some inspiration, too!

Of Math, Martin Luther and Doing HARD THINGS

My new motto this year is "Do HARD Things".

Life is way too short to skate through only doing what comes "naturally" or "easily".   Sure, there's a time and place to relax and take it easy, but for the most part I believe success only comes when we push ourselves beyond our comfort zone.

A good friend of mine shared this article about doing things that have never been done.   {Trust me, you will be touched and inspired by this article.  Take a few minutes to click over to the Blog of Impossible Things and read.)

It made me examine my own life and I'm wondering if I'm just doing easy things, or am I spending time doing things that truly STRETCH me... homeschooling in and of itself is a hard activity, but even after awhile that, too, can become easier.
