About Me

I am a native of South Florida, born and raised at the beach.  After moving to Texas for college, and then to Georgia for my dear husband, I have stayed put in the metro Atlanta area for the past 16 years.  I love living in a quiet, semi-rural area, but still being able to get to the city in just over 30 minutes.

When my husband and I married I was pursuing a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision.  My career goal was to become a public school principal.

Miss B, my oldest child, was born shortly before September 11, 2001.   I was home on maternity leave when the Twin Towers fell and I knew then that I couldn't leave this precious baby in a day care setting when things were so uncertain.   I quit my public school job - we wondered how we would make it on one income - and never looked back.

I began giving private piano lessons and thoroughly enjoyed being a stay at home mom.   Three and half years later my son, GMan, was born.  We bought a new home, moved a little closer to family, and my life was all set.

Or so I thought.

I continued down the path of sending my daughter to public school for grades K-3.  That whole time, however, something just didn't feel right.  I would volunteer excessively at her school, and throughout that time I just had the feeling I could do it better.

I had a very difficult surgery in 2009, and after I recovered decided that it was indeed time to pull her out of school.  My son, who was in our church Pre-K at the time, came home for Kindergarten a few months later.   My husband was 100% supportive.  I had no idea what I was doing, but I knew it was what I was supposed to be doing.

If you ask me our homeschool method I would have to say that right now we are trying to let the Holy Spirit lead us.  We believe in exposing our children to everything beautiful and noble, which includes all of the good literature, music and art we can get our hands on!   We use a little bit of curriculum from The Well Trained Mind, Ambleside Online, Five In A Row, Sonlight, Apologia, and several others.... depending upon the child and the situation.  This is what makes a home education so wonderful!

I am PASSIONATE about home educating and will talk to anyone about it who is willing to listen.   My blog started as a journal of our days, but it has turned into so much more than that.  I love the interactions I have with readers and the things we learn from each other.

Found your blog through a recipe on Pinterest. Have enjoyed what I've read & enjoyed your story, too. I feel the same way about homeschooling... I will talk to anybody who wants to about it. :) So excited about the slow cooker recipes I found... will be looking for more!
